History


In 1897, George Frederick Colton was trying to find gold in that area. He said that a person would need a searchlight to find any gold there. Not long after that, he found gold. The area had a population bigger than Las Vegas and they named it Searchlight. In 1917, Searchlight went downhill but was still a great attraction on one of the main highways in Nevada. When a new highway was built, in 1927, the towns population decreased to only 50.

Description


Searchlight is now home to many different styles of houses, condos, mobile homes, and apartments. You can find a home in any style that is for rent. Residents


Searchlight is now occupied by approximately 755 residents, most of which are retirees. Those that are not yet retired are mostly miners, artists, ranchers, and small business owners. About 250 people in Searchlight own their own homes. And, most began by renting. They enjoy things like Bingo games and the local casino.

41 percent of the people in Searchlight rent their homes. The average price asked for rentals is between $270 and $614. There are many homes that are still for rent in Searchlight. Searchlight NV apartments are some of the more popular places for renters. Also, most of the rentals are four bedrooms.

Although it's a small town, there is lots to do in Searchlight. You can choose from several restaurants, enjoy a walk in the park, or check out the local farmers' market. You can stop by the Searchlight Museum and see many historical items from the towns history. There is lots of wildlife to enjoy while in Searchlight. A lot goes on in the area.
