History


Las Vegas was discovered by the Spanish and quickly became a stopping point on the Spanish Trail to California because it had natural springs that bubbled up throughout the valley. It was settled between 1855 and 1900 by farmers and pioneers. North Las Vegas was incorporated in 1946 because of Nellis Air force Base.

Description

The majority of North Las Vegas lies to the North of all the hotels and casinos on the strip and to the northwest of Nellis Air Force Base and south of the Sheep Mountain range. Although North Las Vegas was incorporated in 1946,  ¾ of the town was built after 1990. For many years North Las Vegas rental homes catered only to the military. Now this is not the case. North Las Vegas rental homes cater to many different professions and a diverse population. The expansion of North Las Vegas businesses and economy increased the amount of North Las Vegas rental homes available opening them to more families besides the military. The construction boom in North Las Vegas contributed not only to the increased amount of North Las Vegas rentals available but put North Las Vegas rentals on the map.

Residents

The population of North Las Vegas is estimated to be just over 200,000 people making North Las Vegas the third largest city in Nevada behind Henderson and Las Vegas.  In addition, the recent construction boom made available a diverse selection of rentals available near lakes and luxury apartment homes with pools and fitness centers. 40 percent of the families are Latino and 35 percent of the population is white.  80 Percent of the population is comprised of families. North Las Vegas rentals have many amenities that range from new libraries to new recreation centers. The schools and parks in North Las Vegas are all brand new with the latest innovations like skateboard parks and water parks. Many of the North Las Vegas rental properties lie next to brand new parks and strip malls making shopping and entertainment a no brainer. 

Rental Housing

North Las Vegas rental properties are composed mostly of houses and apartments. Prices for North Las Vegas rental homes are generally pretty affordable. The further north from City Hall you get the newer the property. The average North Las Vegas rental properties are renting for $1.50 per square foot. Some of the best properties are found just South of the 215 near the Decatur. The majority of the rental properties in this area were built after the year 2000.

Fun Stuff

By freeway it takes only 20 minutes to get back into Las Vegas proper from the farthest exit on the 95 freeway of North Las Vegas. To cool off during the summer Lake Mead is 45 minutes away and during the winter Mt. Charleston offers some skiing that is less then an hour away. North Las Vegas is close to golf courses such as Aliante and Silverstone.  People who live in North Las Vegas consider Aliante Station Casino to be their neighborhood entertainment center for movies and adult games.
