History


Boulder City was founded in 1932 and was designed by landscape architect Saco Rienk DeBoer. The city was built to house the workers who were currently building the Hoover Dam. Boulder was created by the Federal government to be a "model" town. Thus, the city character prohibited gambling and alcohol sales. Currently, Boulder City is one of only two cities in Nevada that prohibits gambling.

The city, which overlooks the picturesque Lake Mead, is filled with parks. Despite being only 23 miles from Las Vegas, Boulder City has a small town feel.
