North Las Vegas – A City Unto Itself

It may share a name with is big sister to its South, but North Las Vegas is a standalone city. After all, it is the third largest in the State. While the city was incorporated in 1946, its main growth has been in recent years. It is one of the most popular areas for those stationed at Nellis Air Force base, but is an attractive area because of its safety, convenience and diversity of lifestyles.

All of these things combine to make up a city of a quarter of a million residents, and for those seeking a Las Vegas rental, it is one of the first places to start looking.

A Vast and Livable Area

North Las Vegas is nearly 99 square miles, and is largely a desert area. The beauty of the desert has its own allure but if that isn’t enough, nearby Lake Mead offers 500 miles of shoreline, and Mt. Charleston in the other direction offers up the ability to be on a ski slope in a half hour. A North Las Vegas apartment is easily within close proximity to both styles of recreation.

And, even with the economic slow down that has strangled the rest of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas is still growing. As something of a growth bubble, more and more shopping and restaurants have opened to accommodate the population growth. Even much of the federal money designated to help communities in the area is going to North Las Vegas in the form of allocations to power plants, adding more police officers, and creation of construction job in new buildings.

Looking To The Future

It is without a doubt that North Las Vegas will continue its upward growth, but plans are in motion to also keep the area interesting. A $54 million project of revamping North Fifth Street is just one of the projects that city father’s are working on these days. It will be a six lane roadway decorated and landscaped, and will act as a gateway into the downtown area from all of the newer neighborhoods. It will also incorporate a walkable downtown shopping and entertainment area.

This project tackles a section of North Las Vegas which became somewhat blighted, and it will do much to increase the appeal of an already popular area. In looking for a North Las Vegas rental, know that the city is full of good schools, excellent hospitals, and has its own casinos and entertainment venues. It’s an easy commute to almost anywhere and it is one of the reasons for it being such a popular residential area.

This is an area where families can find good places to call home, and raise their children with everything around them that is needed for a great lifestyle. There’s no wonder why it is the number one ‘go to’ area for those relocating to Las Vegas.
